Processing Equipment
Hurricane ®
Rohr offers a vareity of Processing Equipment:
For the production of concrete aggregates of high grade in large quantities, which shall be available with minimum transport expenses.
A new concept in Grinding with the newly developed friction drum Hurricane®. |
 |
- broken stones (crushed, rock, fine gravel) will be polished, rounded off and prepared for supply to the surrounding concrete industry as aggregates of high grade,
- intensive and tough contamination in gravels will be removed,
- weary rock formations will be broken up and porous stones will be polished.
|
In a cylindrical drum, an adjustable eccentric rotor is arranged. Drum and rotor are rotated countercurrent. That results in an intensive friction and grinding action of the supplied material in a small area.
The material will be fixed by baffle plates in the drum and by sharp-edged bars on the rotor, so that the friction between the components of the raw materials will be supported and increased. The material will be transported continuously in the drum by unique design of the baffle plates. |
During the conveyance through the friction drum Hurricane® sharp-edged stones will be rounded off, contaminants will be broken up and porous stones will be polished. Continuous water supply separates contaminants and fine sand from the high grade materials.
The final product has an identical stability because weaker structures will be destroyed during the grinding process and new cracks are not originated. |

High Grade Aggregates
- By the use of the newly developed friction drum Hurricane®, high grade for the construction industry will be produced.
- Commercial advantages result in
- expansion of production program by substitution of gravel in the quarry,
- upgrading of interior gravels to high grade sales products in the gravel pit.
Advantages of Application
The friction drum Hurricane® can easily be integrated into the production process by its compact construction. The connection to screening machines or conveying installations is simple.
By the intensive friction among the materials the consumption of water can be held extremely low. Nevertheless, the grade of cleaning is extremely high.
The energy needed for the rounding off of sharp-edged material is used efficiently in the friction drum Hurricane®. The abrasive action is originated by intensive friction among the feed materials. No energy is needed for the motion of grinding elements.
By the sharp-edged construction of the drum and rotor surface, the material is fixed between the wall baffle plates. That reduces the abrasion and leads to high service life of the lining.
The time required to replace the baffle plates on the drum and the sharp-edged bars of the rotor is minimal.
